When I first saw this month’s theme, I thought “Oh, fun!  I’m sure I have a photo from one of the holidays to enter.”  Then I started opening my photo files and I realized that I have not been very good about taking out the camera with my own family.  I have decided to tell myself that it’s because I was just so present in the moment that I didn’t think to grab the camera.  I hope that’s what it was.  I hope I wasn’t playing Candy Crush or checking Instagram.  More likely, I was relying on my iPhone camera so I didn’t have to lug around the big one.  Whatever.  I need to do better this holiday season.

I do have one of Ethan dressed up for Halloween as a soldier from Call of Duty.  Missing a shoe. It’s a good shot for the scrapbook, I guess, but not really photo-challenge-worthy.

This morning I decided to check the images from the day we decorated the tree last Christmas.  Well, there’s a whole lot of silliness going on in all of the shots.  Most of them were crooked or blurry because I was laughing so hard at their dancing and silly faces.  Some of them, like this photo below, one kid is focusing on the task.  The other is very clearly determined to “ruin” the shot with his silliness.  There’s not a single “pretty” photo in the bunch.  (Except for the cat sleeping under the tree after they were all done.  That won’t work for this challenge since the photo has to have people faces in it.)  But this IS an authentic Zwart family holiday moment.  Full of fun. Full of memories.  Most definitely holiday.
